Richard Delaney is a versatile character actor based in London, working internationally. He honed his craft under full scholarship at the prestigious Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts and the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain. From those early days, he has journeyed through diverse acting experiences, forging a career that spans the spectrum of the performing arts.

Following a rigorous training at Drama School, he delved into the world of weekly rep, where I refined my craft, undertaking seasons with Charles Vance's last remaining repertory companies - taking on 13 plays in 14 weeks each season. He went on to become a founding member of The Faction Theatre Company—a celebrated ensemble focussing on the retelling of classical plays with a contemporary aesthetic. This is where Richard spent years deepening his craft as a maker and movement director, growing his appreciation for Shakespeare and Schiller in particular.

During his time with The Faction, the company became one of New Diorama Theatre's first associate ensembles, winning the Peter Brook Empty Space Best Ensemble Award in conjunction with NDT following the company's dynamic new translation and adaptation of Schiller's The Robbers. For the company's critically acclaimed Rep Season at NDT in 2012, The Faction were awarded Best Ensemble Award from OffWestEnd.com. The company went on to tour nationally and internationally.

Richard's artistic journey has encompassed an array of genres and mediums, developing a particular passion for devised theatre and adaptation as he collaborated with various repertory and ensemble-based companies. From classical theatre to contemporary works, physical theatre performances to the nuanced world of radio and recorded media, Richard has embraced every opportunity to stretch his creative boundaries. He developed a long-term collaborative relationship with New Diorama, working closely over the years with David Byrne (in-coming Artistic Director at London's Royal Court Theatre), most notably, a radical adaptation of Down & Out in Paris and London (six Offie nominations, including best ensemble), and the critically acclaimed Secret Life of Humans (twelve Offie nominations), which played Edinburgh, London and Off-Broadway, New York.
