MOVEMENT DIRECTOR
Are you looking to find a physical language to heighten your production? Or, do you need to get the entire company working together as an ensemble? Are you seeking bold and detailed transformations from your performers? If so, I’ll work with you to enhance the dynamic storytelling of your production. I focus on unearthing bold choices that will sharpen the narrative and enrich your creative vision.
I predominantly work in devised and collaborative theatre. The ensemble is at the heart of my work as well as a preoccupation with space and time. I work with expressive and dynamic movement as well as physical metaphor, fusing the expressive with the narrative. Mine is a playful, impulsive approach, that gets performers to fully inhabit the space around them. My technique is loose and relaxed, taking inspiration from The Nine Viewpoints, and my playful process helps identify and develop a physical language for a production, while encouraging a sense of ensemble and complicité among the performers. Experienced working with ensemble pieces, as well as choral work, I believe the theatre of a production often resides in its transitions. In my work I seek to maximise the opportunities to tell a story. My ultimate goal is to give performers full ownership over their performance. I am equally at home in a R and D session, a rehearsal room or noting from an auditorium, and am open to collaboration. I have worked with multiple award-winning companies in a variety of styles, from physical staging to corporeal mime and wire work.
If you're looking to enhance the dynamism and cohesiveness of your production, get in touch and let's discuss working together.
