MY PRACTICE AS AN EDUCATOR
I work as Lecturer and Programme Leader at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, and as External Examiner for the University of Northampton. Within the Department of Performance at Central, I lead on Inclusive Pedagogy and QAE Enhancement.
I recently oversaw the revalidation of my own programme in 2024–2025, and its consequent teach-in during 2025–2027. My work is grounded in a belief that good teaching, like good training, should expand what's possible for a student rather than narrow it — building programmes and assessment structures where diverse bodies, identities, and ways of working are treated as the foundation of good training, not an exception to it.
Alongside my role at Central, I'm External Examiner at the University of Northampton, and have sat on the academic panel for LAMDA's quinquennial review, and provided education consultancy for Collective Acting Studio, contributing to the validation of its BA Acting programme. I hold a Senior Fellowship of the AdvanceHE (SFHEA)
Outside of my formal teaching remit, I also chair the Board of Trustees for Collective Acting Studio's charitable arm, Collective Arts Community Trust, and mentor with Arts Emergency, supporting students and young people from working-class backgrounds into the arts.
TEACHING AND DIRECTING
My teaching spans the full arc of actor training — acting technique, text and scene study, improvisation, devising, and acting for screen.
I also teach Shakespeare and classical text, alongside adaptation and heightened comedy projects. This work has led me to direct rehearsal projects, third-year public productions and West End showcases.
At Central, I have directed Coriolanus (2023), Macbeth (2024), Romeo and Juliet (2025) and Julius Caesar (2026), and worked as Associate Director on The Sociable Companions (2018), The American Clock (2018), and Fahrenheit 451 (2020, in association with Complicité).
I also supervise sustained independent projects on the MA Acting programme, and have led workshops for MA Actor Training and Coaching, and MA Voice Studies.
